Erroneously attributed by H.S. Buck (Smollett as poet, 1927) to Smollett as the earliest form of Smollett's first published work The tears of Scotland. This was refuted by L.M. Knapp (Tobias Smollett, doctor of men and manners, 1949). Text compared with Smollett's The tears of Scotland and seen to be completely different.
Smollett, T. (Tobias), 1721-1771.
