Manuscript, written chiefly in pencil into a bound, leather volume onto lined paper, was donated to Yale in October, 1962 by Helen Ferris (Mrs. Davenport) Hooker. Earliest dated piece is 1846; material added up to ca. 1899. About a third of the pages have writing, remainder is blank; some cut-outs of recipes, etc. are inserted.
