Annual biography and obituary, 1832, p. 12; Allibone, Dict. of authors, and Dict. of nat. biog. under Mackenzie; Neue Bibliothek d. schönen Wissenschaften, 1793, v. 51, p. 183-4; W. Montag, K.v. Ayrenhoff, 1908). Goedeke in his "Grundrisz d. deut. Dichtung," 3. Aufl. v. 4, pt. 3, p. 229, ascribes the translation from Goethe to William Taylor; on what authority does not appear. None of the translations are mentioned in Robberd's Memoir of Taylor, in G. Herzfeld's "William Taylor von Norwich, " 1897, nor in Mackenzie's collected works.
