Watermark of a shield bearing a star (similar to Heawood 804), with counter-mark of initials "V.G." suggests paper was used in Italy, possibly in mid-18th century. Pasteboard covers; heavy brown paper endpapers. Small ms. leaf (18 x 8 cm.) of text in Arabic pinned to leaf 51. Two leaves formerly laid in: typewritten list, on letterhead of the Convento PP. Cappuccini in Padua, of seven 19th-century Italian vocabulary and rhetoric texts, including works by Giovanni Baptista Gandutius and Francesco Soave; and a receipt, dated Dec. 12, 1961 from the Studio Bibliografico Antenore in Padua, acknowledging the purchase from P. Ubaldo of the Convento Cappuccini of a ms. copy of Agrippa's "Cabala angelica"; cf. Special Collections Info File. Ms. copy, transcribed by an anonymous Italian, probably during the 18th-century, of Agrippa's Cabala angelica of 1517.

 Notes:  Manuscript music. A liturgical book which includes a table of contents (fol. 1v), settings of the antiphons "Vidi aquam" and "Asperges me," settings of the ordinary mass chants Kyrie, Sanctus and Agnus Dei for Duplex maius, Duplex minus, Semiduplex, Dominicis, Simplex maius, Simplex minus, Advent, Quadragesima, Angelorum, Nostri ordinis, Roberti, B. Maria, S.P.N. Francisci, Acerbi, and Tempore Paschali. These are followed by settings of the sequences "Victime paschali laudes" for Easter, "Veni Sacnte Spiritus" for Pentecost, and "Lauda Sion" for Corpus Christi. Also included are two settings of the sequence "Lauda Sion salvatoris Jesu nomen" for the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus, one in canto fratto, and one in Gregorian chant, followed by the votive mass for Spritus Sanctus. Leaves 49r-51v were originally left blank with red 4-line staves; a later hand added measured notation in black ink to leaves 49r-51v and the rear pastedown, which consists of two settings of the ordinary of mass chants labeled "Missa in gesoreut" (fol. 49r-50r) and "Alia missa in Delasodre" (fol. 50v-51v, pastedown). Collation: Waxed paper, fol. 51 (leaves foliated in black ink 1-49); 1⁴(-1, -2) 2-8⁶ 9⁸(-8). Layout: Written in 36 long lines; lightly ruled in ink; wax paper tabs (some missing); pages notched at lower edge. Script: Written in textura rotunda. Decoration: Large initials in blue, green, red, and yellow with floral and vegetal designs; floral/vegetal border around title and table of contents; alternating red and blue litterae notiabliores; smaller initials with yellow color washes. Music: Red 4-line staves with black square notation fols. 3r-26v, 46v-51v, six staves per page; red 5-line staves with black square notation fols. 27r-46r, five staves per page. Origin: Written, probably, in Italy in the 18th century; possibly Franciscan based on the inclusion of S.P.N. Francis, Robert (Malatesta?), and the sequences for the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus.
