 Notes:  A hoax A greatly abridged version of a series of articles originally published in the New York Sun in August 1835 under the title "Great astronomical discoveries" which were supposedly discoveries made by Herschel at the Cape of Good Hope, and which pretended to be reprinted from a supplement to the Edinburgh Journal of Science (which was by then defunct). The hoax has been ascribed tentatively to Richard Adams Locke and Joseph Nicolas Nicollet Extract includes 4 p. article entitled "Poors' rates" Joseph Raymond Bruman collection
