 Publication:  France, 1740. 
 Notes:  In Latin; brown ink on paper, 10 half-page drawings, further diagrams in text; laid-in sheet of paper torn from this or identical notebook depicting some form of experimental equipment apparently involving boiling or distillation. Contemporary full calf binding, gilt decoration to the spine, the word "Physica" in the second compartment. Treatise ranging across the natural philosophy of the period, concentrating on physics, mechanics, mathematics, geometry, astronomy, cosmology, and human anatomy; poem in French in praise of "L'Abbé," a former teacher, on last two and a half pages. Dated 1740 from reference to Sir Isaac Newton being dead for 13 years. The scribal hand, the French poem, and strong French cultural references, especially regarding Cartesianism, make France almost certainly the country of origin.
