 Notes:  Description of eleven trades and crafts practiced in Bareilly, India; illustrated with 12 pen and ink drawings of tools and with five colored illustrations of craftspeople. Commissioned by Robert Glyn who was magistrate and judge of the district of Bareilly from 1818-1823. Craftsmen and tradesmen include glass maker, crimper, gram parcher, weaver, pansāri (vendor, this includes a price list for merchandise), wire maker, gold and silver thread and lace maker, kabāb maker (with recipes for making kabābs), and goldsmith. Title from front cover. Foliation: Some contemporary foliation in ink, upper left recto. Modern foliation added in pencil, upper left recto excluding blank leaves inserted before paintings and drawings (1-36); references in the record are to the modern foliation. Layout: Chiefly 13 long lines; border-ruled. Script: Written in nastaʻlīq with elements of shikastah in black ink; pointed. Decoration: Twelve drawings in black and red (f. 3r, 5r, 7r, 10r, 12r, 14r, 20r, 23r, 25r, 30r, 35r-35v); five color illustrations (f. 9r, 19r, 22r, 29r, 34r); textblock border ruled in red and black; rubrications in red. Binding: Bound in half covers with marbled paper sides and red leather corners and spine. Origin: Written on commission for Robert Glyn (f. 2r) in approximately 1820.
