In each vol. there are over 100 leaves of plates, some folded, those showing vase paintings in color. Only some of the plates in v. 1 are titled or described, chiefly in v. 2. Hancarville credits G. Bracci, one of the principal illustrators, with the innovative scale system showing size and shape of vases. Engravings by A. Cardon, C. Nolli, C. Pignatari, Dufrenoi after G. Bracci, F. de Grado, E. and R. Beaulieu, G.B. Tierce, A. Lamberti.
