The Theatrical Portrait Gallery of Charles DeForest Fredricks created the majority of the carte-de-visite photographs. Photographs of minstrel performers not wearing blackface makeup consist of George W. Bailey, Lew Benedict, Theodore "Gustavo" Bidaux, Billy Birch, Frank Brower, Jerry Bryant, W. S. Budworth, S. C. Campbell, George N. Christy, Charles H. Duprez, J. Edwin Green, George W. H. Griffin, Tim Hays, Richard M. Hooley, Lon Morris, Johnny Pell, Charles Reynolds, T. Y. Riggs, George Robinson, Hy S. Photographs of couples and groups include a portrait of three men identified as Harry Stanwood, Hank Mudge, and Mr. Stone; a portrait of Harry Stanwood and Mr. Pittsburgher; a portrait of dancers Ella Wesner and Mademoiselle Katrina; a portrait of two men identified as Waldron and Galloway, Alleghenian bell ringers; a group portrait of three young children judged "prized babies", probably in a beauty contest sponsored by P. T. Barnum; a group portrait of promoter Colonel Ellinger, possibly of Cremorne Gardens, New York City, with dwarves Commodore Foote and his sister, and Colonel Small; and a group portrait including Low Gaylord and his wife, M. T. Skiff and his wife, Johnny Howard, and a man identified as Delahanty. Photographs of partially identified individuals include W. Arlington, Mr. Eivers, C. Forrest, E. Haslam, E. Holmes, W. Kennedy, Master Pape, and C. Templeton, in addition to a woman identified as Collins, probably in costume for "The Cure"; J. H. Robertson of New Haven, Connecticut, and probably of siblings to Harry Stanwood, including his sister Hattie Stanwood and his brother Roe Stanwood. Two composite photographs created by the Theatrical Portrait Gallery of Charles DeForest Fredricks depict a hundred actors and a hundred actresses. Photographs of unidentified individuals include a portrait of an African American boy; an actor portraying the character of Lord Dundreary from the play "Our American Cousin"; an unidentified minstrel performer wearing blackface makeup; a group of five performing dogs, and a caricature etching depicting an African American boy entitled "Little Nig." Newspaper clippings document performances by Stanwood with minstrel troupes, primarily Duprez & Green's Minstrels, but also including Skiff and Gaylord's Minstrels. The clippings also consist of sixty-seven relief etchings of individuals involved in the entertainment industry. Etchings of minstrels consist of Dan Bryant, Jerry Bryant, Charley Fox, J. Edwin Green, Eph Horn, George W. Moore, Charles A. Morris, Tommy J. Peel, David Wambold, and Charles T. White. Etchings of actors consist of William Rufus Blake, Adolphus H. Davenport, Edwin Forrest, George Jordan, Harry Langdon, John T. Raymond, Peter Richings, John R. Scott, Edward Askew Sothern, and Charles Wilkinson. Etchings of actresses consist of Fanny Brown, Ann Cruise, Kate Fisher, Mary Gannon, Mary J. Gladstane, Madeline Henriques, Mrs. George Jordan, Laura Keene, Caroline Richings, Emma Elizabeth Taylor, Ada Webb, and Mollie William. Etchings of pantomimes consist of Harry Gilbert and Harry Leslie. Etchings of dancers consist of Sally Bishop, Joe Brown, Isabel Cubas, Mary Ann Fielding, Annetta Galletti, Samuel Hague, Tim Hayes, Kate Pennoyer, Marietta Ravel, Lizzie Schultze, and Marie Zoe. Etchings of comedians consist of Edwin Adams, John Collins, William Pleater Davidge, George Holland, Edward Lamb, Mrs. Harry Langdon, Joe Pentland, Stuart Robson, and Dan Setchell. Etchings of theatrical producers and managers consist of Charles H. Duprez, George K. Goodwin, Samuel S. Sanford, Sam Sharpley, Gilbert R. Spalding, and William Wheatley. Etchings of authors consist of Dion Boucicault, John Brougham, and Artemus Ward. Etchings of singers consist of Eva Brent, Julia Holman, Sallie Holman, Adelina Patti, Gus Shaw, and Felicja Vestfali. Etchings of sportsmen consist of figure skater Jackson Haines, in addition to billiard players Dudley Kavahagh and Louis Fox. Etchings of other individuals include Jonathan Harrington, a ventriloquist; Tom Watson, a clown; Marietta Zanfretta, a tight rope artist; and Frank Pastor, who has an unidentified occupation. The album includes a color lithograph of a woman reclining on a chaise lounge. Collection also includes a copy of a song, "Personals in the New York Herald", written by Harry Stanwood, arranged by Charles E. Pratt, and published by William A. Pond and Company, New York, 1868. Title devised by cataloger. Manuscript captions in ink below most photographs.
