 Notes:  The papers comprise correspondence to Franklin Baldwin Wiley chiefly from authors discussing their submissions of poems, short stories, and essays to Ladies' Home Journal. Also included are letters from the Journal's editor-in-chief, Edward William Bok, discussing Journal business and personal items, dating from 1904 to 1929. Included in some of the correspondence from writers are original typescripts and manuscripts by the authors. The papers also contain some personal correspondence, annotated typescripts of Wiley's lectures (Box 3), some memorabilia (Boxes 3-6), and five scrapbooks. Scrapbooks I-III (Boxes 7-9) span from 1879 to 1889, tracing Wiley's graduation from high school to the start of his career at Ladies' Home Journal; each begins with a handwritten table of contents and contains various pasted-in articles and poems by Wiley, as well as manuscript notes. Scrapbooks IV-V (Boxes 10-11) span from 1901 to 1926 and include invitations, information, and programs from associations and clubs in which Wiley was a member. The Wiley papers also include some newspaper clippings, chiefly regarding the death of Edward William Bok in 1930.
