Revealing Recipes: Top Tips from Early Modern Women - Workshop

About this Event

This workshop is hosted by Wellcome Collection and forms part of a day-long event run by the Early Modern Recipes Online Collective (EMROC) to transcribe two 17th century recipe books at the Wellcome Collection and Royal College of Physicians.

Find out about the history and context of recipe books from a range of experts. Professor Jennifer Munroe (University of North Carolina at Charlotte) from EMROC will provide an introduction to the work of EMROC and the benefits of transcribing as a teaching resource. Archivists, conservators and digital staff will reflect on the recipe book collection at Wellcome. Herbal Historian, Anne Stobart (University of Exeter) will discuss the interpretation of recipes in relation to early modern household medicine. There will also be a chance to put questions to the expert panel which includes Pamela Forde, Archive Manager at the Royal College of Physicians.
