The Philadelphia Area Center for History of Science has been awarded a $500,000 Challenge Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities to create an endowment for its fellowship program. Requiring a 3:1 match, the resulting $2 million will be the first endowment fund established by the Center, and will provide a secure funding base for research, dissertation writing, and postdoctoral fellowships in the history of science, technology and medicine. The NEH Challenge Grant to the Center is one of three awarded within the state of Pennsylvania. Meeting this Challenge Grant will significantly advance the Center’s efforts to provide a much-needed humanistic perspective on science, technology and medicine.
