The Consortium is pleased to announce a new Dissertation Completion Fellowship program, generously supported by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Approximately 13 fellowships will be awarded annually to Ph.D. candidates enrolled at U.S. institutions of higher education who are in the advanced stages of dissertation projects examining the history of the natural or social sciences in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Applicants may, but are not required to, apply for additional support to conduct research in the collections of the Consortium's member institutions.
Dissertation Completion Fellows will receive $15,000 to support three months of dissertation completion work. The fellowship is typically held during the summer but may be taken at another time, provided the awardee is not receiving funding from another source. Fellows will become part of the Consortium's scholarly community and participate in its academic programs. Residence at the Consortium's offices at the Science History Institute in Philadelphia is optional.
Applications will be submitted through the Consortium website and will be due on October 1 and April 1 each year. Application opening dates will be announced separately.
